EVEN MORE REASON TO FIND ROOM FOR THE COMPANY PICNIC IN YOUR BUDGET THIS YEAR
January 5, 2010 – as seen on AOL Business News
News flash: Not truly news to any of us - the Consumer Research Centers Conference Board has issued results of a survey of 5,000 US households on job satisfaction. The current rate is the lowest it has been since the Conference Board started keeping track. “The downward trend in job satisfaction could spell trouble for the overall engagement of US employees and ultimately employee productivity’ according to Lynn Franco, Director of the consumer research Center of the Conference Board. The Conference Board goes on to say that “Americans of all ages and income brackets continue to grow increasingly unhappy at work – a long-term trend that should be a red flag to employers.”
We all know that when employee morale is down, productivity is down and profits decrease, but did you ever stop to calculate other costs associated with this, such as: hiring temps to pick up the slack, medical bills, the cost of hiring and training a replacement. It can be an expensive move to ignore unhappy employees!
A relatively inexpensive solution is to do an employee gathering at Forest Lodge – pluses include:
Perk to employees (everyone appreciates)
Networking time out of the workplace (take a breath
outside the daily grind)
Social interaction among staff members (builds
camaraderie)
Team Building events (encourages teamwork)
Company picnics (meet the family)
